Italy has recently secured its place among the prestigious partners of the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux, one of the world’s leading institutions dedicated to wine culture and civilization. This significant achievement was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Iter Vitis , the Wine net and the magazine Wine Meridian. Iter Vitis joins an esteemed group of new partners, including Porto & Douro (IVDP) from Portugal, Hawke’s Bay from New Zealand, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Sauternes-Barsac denomination, expanding the global footprint of the Cité du Vin’s partnership network.
The inclusion of these new partners aims to enhance the Cité du Vin’s offerings throughout the year, providing visitors with a curated selection of ambassador wines to taste during various onsite activities. These tastings are designed to raise awareness of the diversity and quality of wines, not only from France but from around the world.
Italy’s presence at the Cité du Vin is further strengthened by Iter Vitis Italia and Wine net, which now joins the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, an existing partner of the institution. This partnership, established through the Iter Vitis Europe network, is set to foster deeper connections with the entire Italian wine sector. In fact, preparations are already underway for two upcoming tasting workshops: one dedicated to red wines in November and another focused on white wines, scheduled for early 2025.
The Fondation pour la Culture et les Civilisations du Vin, which manages the Cité du Vin, boasts approximately 50 wine sector partners from around the globe. These partners, hailing from Bordeaux, other French regions, and five continents—including South Africa, Australia, Georgia, the United States, and Argentina—collectively contribute around 50,000 bottles of wine each year. These wines are then tasted by the Cité du Vin’s 400,000 annual visitors at the Belvedere, in the sensory tasting experience Via Sensoria, during tasting workshops, and at cultural events. Each wine is carefully selected to represent the diversity and quality of its region, contributing to the Cité du Vin’s international identity.
Moreover, the partnership between Iter Vitis and the Cité du Vin extends beyond Italy, providing Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Israel, with access to this renowned institution. This collaboration not only underscores the importance of these regions in the global wine landscape but also enhances their visibility and connection to international wine culture.
With this new collaboration, Iter Vitis Italia and Wine net and its partners are poised to play a crucial role in promoting Italy’s rich viticultural heritage on an international stage, while also strengthening ties with the broader global wine community. This partnership marks a significant step forward in showcasing the diversity and excellence of Italian wines and highlights the growing influence of Iter Vitis in connecting regions and cultures through the shared appreciation of wine.
