This Saturday, 27 September 2025, Iter Vitis will take part in the World Gastronomy Forum in Catalonia, where the World Gastronomy Summit Declaration will be officially launched.

The Declaration calls on governments, institutions, and citizens to acknowledge food in all its dimensions as part of our shared cultural heritage, and to embed it more firmly into cultural, agricultural, tourism, and educational strategies. Within this broader vision of gastronomy, wine stands out as a cornerstone of humanity’s cultural heritage. It is not only one of the oldest and most symbolic products of our civilization, but also a living tradition that links landscapes, practices, and communities. By valuing wine as both culture and agriculture, we recognize its power to shape sustainable futures and to foster dialogue across regions and peoples.
Iter Vitis, as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, is committed to safeguarding viticultural heritage, enhancing wine landscapes, and promoting wine culture as a bridge for intercultural dialogue and sustainable tourism. For this reason, we immediately endorsed this initiative and invite our member associations to join forces by signing the Declaration before 27 September:

The initiative is promoted by IGCAT – the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism, a leading organization that works globally to strengthen the recognition of food and culture as drivers of sustainable development. Together with a wide coalition of international organizations, cultural leaders, and policy makers, IGCAT gives voice to the urgent need of placing gastronomy at the heart of future strategies.
By endorsing this effort, we underline that gastronomy is far more than what sustains us physically: it embodies identity, collective memory, and cultural exchange. In this context, wine takes on a pivotal role—connecting regions across borders, promoting sustainable practices, and speaking a universal language of heritage and culture.
