Rosa Melchor<\/strong>, President of RECEVIN and Mayor of Alc\u00e1zar de San Juan, welcomed France\u2019s entry, noting that \u201cthe Europe of wine is built on shared values \u2014 culture, landscape, and cooperation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The closing round table, \u201cBeyond French Borders: Wine Tourism through the Eyes of Our European Neighbours,\u201d<\/em> featured Emanuela Panke<\/strong>, President of Iter Vitis Europe<\/strong>, who brought a strong European perspective to the debate. She underlined how Iter Vitis, as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe<\/strong>, connects 26 countries through shared heritage, responsible tourism, and cultural diplomacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWine is not only an economic product,\u201d she reminded the audience, \u201cit is a living culture \u2014 a bridge between people, landscapes, and history.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under her leadership, Iter Vitis promotes cross-border cooperation and sustainable innovation, reinforcing the idea that wine tourism can serve as a lever for rural development, identity, and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Portugal: WOW \u2013 World of Wine<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Representing Portugal, Bernardo Marquez<\/strong>, General Director of WOW \u2013 World of Wine<\/strong>, presented one of the most inspiring examples of innovation and territorial regeneration in Europe.
Located in Vila Nova de Gaia<\/strong>, WOW is a \u20ac110 million private investment that has transformed 50,000 m\u00b2 of former wine warehouses into a dynamic cultural district dedicated to wine, gastronomy, and heritage. The complex includes seven museums, twelve restaurants, and a wine school<\/strong>, illustrating how storytelling and experience can drive sustainable tourism.
WOW has already created over 400 jobs<\/strong>, engaged dozens of local businesses, and contributed to the revitalization of Gaia\u2019s riverside area, combining economic impact, cultural authenticity, and environmental responsibility<\/strong> through the Porto Protocol Foundation<\/strong>, which coordinates its sustainability commitments<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moldova: Education, Innovation, and Storytelling<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Representing Eastern Europe, Natalia Turcanu<\/strong>, shared Moldova\u2019s success story with Wine Routes of Moldova<\/strong>\u2014 from heritage preservation to international recognition. In partnership with Iter Vitis, Moldova has built a national route linking wineries, museums, and natural landscapes, while integrating storytelling, sustainability, and training programs<\/strong> in higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Spain, Guillermo Mir\u00f3<\/strong>, representing the Bilbao Chamber of Commerce<\/strong>, presented the Spanish network of 38 Wine Routes<\/strong>, a benchmark for public-private cooperation and rigorous quality management<\/strong>.
With regular audits and a strong observatory tracking visitor flows, Spain has set an example in data-driven governance and collaborative brand building. The model emphasizes non-rivalry between regions \u2014 proving that unity strengthens visibility and competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
